New Possibilities for Dior: Marc Jacobs

The fashion rumour mill has been working to breaking point this weekend.  The new rumour is that LVMH are going to be shuffling around their Head Designers.

Marc Jacobs head of Louis Vuitton, has been rumoured to be taking the eponymous job at Dior, therefore leaving his spot at Louis Vuitton open for none other than Celine’s Head of Design, Phoebe Philo.

The question is if Philo heads to Vuitton who is taking her job at Celine? Well the answer, no one. Philo will still continue to design for the French label, but LVMH are considering downsizing the ready-to-wear collection at Louis Vuitton. Thus giving her a smaller workload.

Last week a close source to the Director of LVMH commented on the possibility of Jacobs for Dior. “Jacobs, the current creative director of Louis Vuitton, renewed his contract with LVMH in January, and it is possible for him to continue in his current position even if he takes over Dior. More likely however, is that he’ll end up choosing between one of two. Arnault would prefer him to go to Dior- as the billionaire sees it, Jacobs’ image will only be good for the fashion house, which was considerably shaken by the Galliano scandal.”

So could we see Jacobs at Dior? Other possibilities include Sarah Burton, Ricardo Tisci and Oliver Theyskens. The only question is, could Jacobs do couture??? Well I guess we are going to find out.
